Vocalist/Guitarist James Carroll described the album saying:

“Our biggest goal in both the writing and recording of End Measured Milewas to grow as musicians and create a record that was a marked progression from our last EP. In our opinions, we succeeded with flying colors.”

The full-length was recorded this past July with co-producers Nick Bellmore (Hatebreed, Kingdom of Sorrow, Death Threat) at Dexter’s Lab in Milford, CT and Jason Maas (Bane, Verse, Title Fight) at Getaway Group studio in Wakefield, MA.

The record follows their 2009 EP, Bodies of Water.

In essence Fly Away is social commentary. Delving into themes such as infatuation, abuse, and the state of the family at large, Fly Away pulls no punches, bringing to light subject matter which is seldom discussed, particularly in gospel music.

The music video, told in a narrative format, peers into the lives of individuals struggling with issues of identity and self worth, while ultimately communicating a message of hope and acceptance.

Guitarist Ryan Geis had this to say about the explanation of what exactly a “Wacky Shack” is:

“Wacky Shack is when you take any amount ‘found’ objects and pile them up on a buddy who is passed the fuck out.  Often referred to as a ‘shaming’, this version encourages the piling on of boxes, furniture, and other large objects.  So when the victim wakes up, he/she finds himself/herself in some sort of shack that is wacky.  One rule is that you can’t ‘Wacky Shack’ someone in their own bed.  Another is: the victim must still be wearing their shoes.  Another fun twist is to create a ‘hand sandwich’.  Grab two pieces of bread, some cheese and an assortment of condiments.  Carefully place the hand of the ‘Wacky Shack-ee’ between said bread, cheese and condiments.  But be careful.  Don’t wake the meat!”

Savage Brewtality recently played the ninth installment of Best Friends Day in Richmond, VA. They got to share the stage with the likes of Municipal Waste, Propaghandi, and Andrew W.K.  They will be performing on Halloween night as part of The Fest 9 in Gainesville, FL.

No Friends recently released Traditional Failures EP this year on Kiss of Death and the album is available for sale on a one-sided LP or FREE download now. The band also created a video for the title track from their EP with the help of None More Black’s Jason Shevchuck. Check out the video for “Traditional Failures” here.

With the release date quickly approaching, the band and label decided to give the fans a sneak peak of the 18 track collection – head over to AMP Magazine to stream the release in its entirety.

These 18 tracks consists of studio outtakes, in-studio radio shows and live recordings from the Clumsy and You Are Freaking Me Out period of the band’s career.

To support the release, the band will be doing a short run of dates in the Northeast before touring Europe with A Death in the Family and Former Cell Mates. Read below for all dates that are confirmed so far.

On this tour the band will be breaking in their new drummer, Charlie Walker, of Chamberlain/Split Lip.

Midwestern Minutes was recorded this past March & April by Mike Bridavsky at Russian Recording Studio in the band’s hometown of Bloomington. Bridavsky also produced the band’s critically acclaimed previous album, The Fear, The Fear, The Fear, released by No Idea in late 2007.

If you’ve been a fan of Against Me! since the days of Reinventing Axl Rose (2002) then you were no doubt interested in hearing their follow-up to their first major-label release New Wave (2007). Once again we see a well-deserving Florida band cross the threshold of underground sensation to the mainstream. White Crosses undoubtedly seals the deal that Against Me! has grown up.

The first (and title track) of the CD is pretty infectious, and instantly you ask yourself if they’ve added an additional member or two to the lineup. Even New Wave didn’t seem this polished and –dare I agree with the masses and say it- they don’t sound as punk rock as they used to. But how many of us used to sport NOFX stickers on our folders in high school, and now work for Corporate America hopped up on Starbucks? ME! Personally, I think the album speaks to this group of people. If you’ve ever looked back and laughed at your ‘ideals’ as know-it-all kid or lost a friend and thought about all of the things you never said, then you will find yourself singing along while you plug away at your desk job.

If there were any doubts about the lyrical content, as soon as Tom Gabel boldly exclaims that he’s strung out on the amphetamines about halfway through the first song, you know that they might sound more refined but we’ve thankfully still got the same ol’ Tom. Moving throughout the album, Gabel doesn’t disappoint as he delivers the same great prose that makes you shake your head and say, “Ain’t that the truth?”

Looking at their albums collectively, its nice to see that they’ve grown from raucous rebels to well-adjusted adults that still play great music- and you grew up right alongside them. Naturally, you’re going to have people call this band a sell-out. If there is one lesson to be learned from this album is that growing in to your own person and shaking off mass ideals to think for yourself is the most liberating thing in the world… So now I’m going to tell you that if you have traded in your studded jacket for a business suit, or you tossed your copy of The Communist Manifesto for Eat, Pray, Love , then please have a listen! It’s like the guy who wears his Chuck Taylors to the office on Casual Fridays.

“Sadly, we are announcing that the 2011 Harvest of Hope Fest in St. Augustine, Florida has been officially canceled. Organizing the 2009 and 2010 Fests were enormous undertakings and at this time the Harvest of Hope Foundation and St. Johns County do not have the resources and time to put together a 2011 Fest.

On the positive side, as a result of the 2009 and 2010 Fests, the Foundation and other promoters have organized and continue to organize smaller musical benefits to raise needed funds for migrant farmworkers and their families. To all of you, our deep appreciation for sticking by the Harvest of Hope Foundation, attending our events, dedicating your musical craftmanship and talent, and staying true to those who harvest and produce our food.

Thank you for recognizing that Migrant Farmworkers earn our support!”

The festival, which was held near St. Augustine, FL in 2009 and 2010, was organized to raise funds and awareness for migrant farmworkers via the Harvest of Hope Foundation. Some of my best memories were on that campground. It will be missed.
